About This Service

An AML framework is more than a policy document sitting in a drawer. It is the connected set of risk assessments, policies, controls and training that shows a supervisor your firm can spot, stop and report money laundering.

We design, review and strengthen AML frameworks that fit the way your business actually operates, and that stand up when HMRC or the FCA comes asking.

Who This Service Is For

This service is for businesses subject to the Money Laundering Regulations, including estate agents, letting agents, property management companies and FCA-regulated firms, whether you are building a framework from scratch or need an existing one reviewed and brought up to standard.

What’s Involved

A compliant AML framework has several connected components, and weakness in any one of them undermines the rest. We deliver:

  • Business-Wide Risk Assessment: A documented assessment of the money laundering risks your specific business faces, covering customers, transactions, geography and delivery channels.
  • Policies, Controls and Procedures: Practical documents your team can actually follow, covering customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence, ongoing monitoring, record-keeping and suspicious activity reporting.
  • Roles and Responsibilities: Clear allocation of AML accountability, including your nominated officer arrangements.
  • Staff Training: Training that equips your people to recognise red flags and follow your procedures with confidence.
  • Independent Review: Health checks of existing frameworks, with a prioritised plan to close any gaps.

How It Works

We start by understanding your business model, client base and existing arrangements. From there, we assess your risks, draft or update your framework documents, and walk your team through how everything works in practice. You end up with a framework that is proportionate to your business, not a generic template.

Frequently Asked Questions

At minimum: a business-wide risk assessment, written policies and procedures covering due diligence and reporting, a nominated officer, ongoing monitoring arrangements, record-keeping and regular staff training, all proportionate to your firm’s risks.

At least annually, and whenever your business changes significantly, for example new services, new client types or new jurisdictions. Supervisors expect to see evidence that reviews actually happen.

Because policies alone are not compliance. Supervisors test whether your documents match your risks and whether your team follows them in practice. A review identifies the gaps between what is written down and what actually happens.
